Although we all know the basics of writing a CV, we could be unaware that we are doing some mistakes that are costing us the job.

1. Spelling mistakes

You will not have an excuse of having spelling errors in your CV. Make sure you go through it, spellcheck and proofread before submitting. Having these errors will depict someone who is not serious with their work and you will not be considered for the post.

2. Failing to provide evidence

Make sure you do not submit your CV without the evidence of what you have included in it. No one will trust the empty statements without seeing proof of them. Ensure you are organized in attaching any document that will support what you have included in your CV. This could be your work experience, different certifications and also your education level.

3. Failing to indicate the skills targeted

Ensure you research more about the skills needed for the job either from the company's website or the job advert before submitting your CV. Make sure you have the skills needed by the company more prominent in your CV. Otherwise, you will not be shortlisted for the post.

4. Using different colours and fonts

It is important noting that using different colours and fonts in your CV will make it look messy and the employers will not waste time going through it. Maintain one colour especially black and single font, this will make your CV simple and fast to go through.
