Majority Leader Aden Duale on Wednesday led Members of parliament in protesting cheap and poorly prepared food served in the cafeteria at parliament.
While demanding better and improved catering services in parliament, the Garissa Township legislator proposed that the catering services be outsourced to enable them to enjoy Five-Star Hotel foods.
"This is too much. We have no option but to outsource this service. The parliament cannot do the business of cooking food. This service should be sought from the right persons,” commented Duale.
The legislators further pleaded with the Speaker Justin Muturi to put the House catering department to task on improving quality of food for the honorable members.
They also expressed concerns with the pricing of food in the Parliament's dining hall, claiming that they were spending a lot of cash only to be served with visibly low-quality meals.
Issue of parliamentarians queuing for food like school going kids also came up, with the MPs calling for total service upgrades.
