Speaking on Wednesday, Sakaja noted with concern that most Kenyans remain divided as a result of their affiliation to leading political figures, and consider those sharing a different opinion and as rivals.

However, he advised against that, revealing that the leading politicians who enjoy most support from Kenyans currently are actually the best of friends.

Sakaja claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga who enjoy the most backing consult daily, as their supporters engage each other in verbal fights.

"Don't be divided again into tribal lines. Hawa watu ni mabeshte, nakuwaga hapo wakipigiana masimu. (these people are friends, am always there when they are phoning each other)," he said in an interview on Wednesday morning.

The senator was speaking on Radio Citizen's Mjadala Wa Citizen.

He added that politicians, especially the three, are also basking in love and admiration from each other, which is the contrary among their supporters on the ground.

He gave an example of the Oginga and Kenyatta families which have for long been seen as enemies, claiming that they have been united since years before independence.

"Wewe kama ni mtu wa Raila, Uhuru anampenda kukuliko. Raila alimbeba Uhuru kwa mgongo Statehouse. Wewe uko na namba yake? Wanajuana (If you are a supporter of Raila, Uhuru loves him more. Raila carried Uhuru on his back in the State House. Do you have his (Raila) number? They know each other)," the vocal legislator noted.

These remarks come at a time when the rivalry between Raila and Ruto seem to be worsening, ahead of their anticipated presidential race in the 2022 polls.
