After five days of a deserved break, Deputy President William Ruto has finally joined ongoing development debate that has divided Mt Kenya region legislators.
Earlier, Nyeri Town legislator Ngunjiri Wambugu had questioned Ruto's silence, claiming that he might have incited a section of MPs against the president.
"The DP is quiet yet he should be telling us what he's been launching in Central Kenya on behalf of his boss as errand boy. He should let us know what his team wants," he said.
Dr Ruto was last seen in public on January 3rd where he insisted that he would compete for nominations in Jubilee and would back whoever beats him following pressure from President Uhuru Kenyatta's ally David Murathe.
And on Tuesday on his social media accounts, Ruto insisted that Jubilee administration had not neglected any region across the country, adding that the government will ensure all regions are served.
"In 2013, Jubilee rolled out a comprehensive development programme to transform Kenya. From the SGR; construction of 7,000km of roads; revamping the NHIF to increase medical cover for Kenyans; 4.6m new electricity connections to households; setting up 160 technical training institutes spread across the country in a deliberate move to ensure equity. Jubilee, under the President’s tutelage, will continue to propagate projects in every corner of our country." https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2443504172344772&id=244554088906469
With a number of legislators accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta's government of discrimination, questions have however been asked with regard to Ruto's frequently trips across the country in pretext of development.
