Duale wants Kenyans and the world to stand in prayers for Romano, noting that she was doing a noble project in Chakama before her abduction.

Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Monday, Duale said efforts must be made to rescue the aid worker.

He warned that foreign aid workers are likely to keep off aid projects in the country if Romano is not rescued.

“Kenyans and the world must stand in prayers with Romano even as security agencies work on her rescue operation,” he said.

Duale pleaded with the government to seek help if need possible in tracing the kidnapped volunteer worker.

He urged the government to deploy more security forces in the North Eastern region to prevent any possibility of the abductors crossing over to Somalia.

Duale at the same time said that the government will not relent in the war against terrorism.

He said that terrorism and their agents must be fought mercilessly.

Romano was abducted on November 20, 2018, in Chakama village, Kilifi County.

The security operation to rescue her is ongoing in Garissa, Tana River, and Kilifi counties.
