Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong’o has today led county staff in mourning the death of engineer Moses Werunga.
Until his death on Wednesday, Mr Werunga was Kisumu County’s acting Chief Officer for Roads, Public Works and Transport.
He died while receiving treatment at the Nairobi hospital, where he was batting a heart ailment.
In his condolence message, Governor Nyong'o noted that he is deeply shocked with the sad news of the passing on of engineer Werunga.
“A true professional, he offered his all to public service both as the City Engineer where he served for a long time before his new assignment as the Chief Officer,” the Prof said in a statement released by his press team.
“On behalf of my government, my family and on my own behalf, I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives and all the staff of the County Government of Kisumu, especially the department of Roads and Transport for this great loss. May the Lord receive and keep his soul in eternal peace,” he added.
Mr Werunga served under former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma as City Engineer, before being promoted under Nyong’o’s reign.
He will be remembered for his active role in various engineering works in Kisumu County.
