Amani National Congress Leader Musalia Mudavadi has accused opposition chief Raila Odinga of weakening the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA).
According to the ANC leader, Raila's decision to mend fences with President Uhuru Kenyatta and agree to work with the commander in chief weakened the opposition which he says does not currently have the capacity to put the government in check.
"I must admit that NASA is crippled. It is not as strong as before and this came after the handshake," the former Sabatia MP said as he spoke on Sunday at a church service in Kisumu.
He said Raila's close working relationship with the Jubilee administration made him 'powerless' in his usual checks on the government especially on corruption.
Mudavadi was among NASA leaders who criticised Raila after the historic golden handshake between the opposition leader and Uhuru.
He claimed then that the handshake was initiated without the involvement of other NASA leaders who include Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Immediately after the handshake, Mudavadi and Wetangula convened a series of rallies in their Western Kenya base accusing Raila of being insincere in his political moves.
There were claims after the handshake that Uhuru may rally Central Kenya voters to back Raila's 2022 State House bid in case the Constitution is amended to allow him to contest for the presidency.
