According to Talam, Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has piled pressure on them to end the making, selling and distribution of illicit liquor.

As a result, the commissioner has declared total war on illicit brews in the region.

Mr Talam said he has instructed local chiefs with the help of Nyumba Kumi officials to conduct a crackdown on the illicit brews on a daily basis to flush out those engaging in the dubious business.

"I am committed to ensure the making, selling and distribution of illicit brew comes to an end in my area of administration. Chiefs and their assistants should step up efforts to flush out illicit brew dealers from the villagers," he noted.

He urged residents to venture into legal businesses adding that whoever who will be caught will not be spared by the law.

"Chiefs who will condone the illegal businesses will be the first one to go home. Locals found engaging in the illegal businesses will pay heavy fines," he added.
