Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko while attending a burial of the late Pacifica Obegi Obwori, mother to  Edward Gichana, a Nairobi County employee at Mosocho area, Kitutu Chache South in Kisii County donated the money in cash to help the family.

"I feel sorry for the family of Mr Gichana who is a hardworking employee in my government and this is why I travelled all the way from Nairobi to Mosocho to attend the last journey of his mother. I hereby donate Sh200,000 to the family as my condolences," said Sonko.

He assured the family that the people of Nairobi County stand with them and challenged the family to use the money wisely.

The vocal governor confirmed that he likes people from the Gusii community because they are hardworking and hardly involved in graft.

Sonko reiterated that politics should not divide people given that President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga have been preaching peace since their March 9 handshake.
