A group of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers ambushed former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero Wednesday evening at a Nairobi Hotel.
An impossibly cool Kidero arrived at Integrity Centre as cameras flashed.
One of the journalists covering the dramatic arrest fired a question at him as he arrived:
"Why have you been arrested?" The journalist asked.
"I don't know why I have been arrested," Kidero answered in Swahili.
It is difficult to believe that the former governor did not know why he was being arrested as the fact that he was being investigated was public knowledge.
EACC had announced a few months ago that it had launched investigations into claims that his administration had engaged in the embezzlement of City Hall funds to the tune of 7.8 billion shillings.
