A 50-year-old man committed suicide on Saturday evening at Kebirigo after he was allegedly named to among the witches troubling residents in the area.
Locals said Boniface Oigo's lifeless body was found hanging from the roof of his house by his daughter, Caroline Kemunto.
"Oigo was named among the suspected witchcraft in the area troubling people at night," said Dickson Ongeri, one of the locals.
Mr. Ongeri Oigo living true to his threats he went to his house, picked a rope which he used to hang himself inside his bedroom.
Area assistant chief, Wilson Otucho confirmed the incident and said Oigo's lifeless body was found by Kemunto, his daughter who went to call him to eat supper.
"Oigo took his own life after neighbors called him a witch. It is unfortunate that he ended his life even before, he could be found guilty," he said.
Otucho said the deceased body was taken to Nyamira County hospital morgue.
He warned locals against falsely accusing people to be witches without prove and evidence.
