Charged jointly with her fiance Joseph Irungu over the murder of Monica Kimani, Ms. Maribe now accuses detectives of unfairly dragging her because of her love to Mr. Irungu.

"I am in this message due to my former relationship with the first accused. Just because he used my vehicle and I accommodated him in my house, am being accused of killing.

"They have charged me because of my existing relationship then. I am being just crucified for having loved him at that time," argued Ms. Maribe, in statements seemingly abandoning Mr. Irungu.

Further, she argued, detectives are using call logs obtained from Irungu, which were basically about their 'romantic relationship' at the time of the murder.

The new development now means Mr. Irungu will have to fight out for himself in the murder charges without Maribe's backup.

In the affidavits, Maribe deviates from her earlier statement that Irungu was attacked by unknown gunmen, this time claiming that he attempted to commit suicide at their house deep in the hours of night during the fateful day.
