A police officer on Friday committed suicide in Tala, Matungulu sub-county, Machakos County.
The police constable identified as Kiplimo hang himself using his shirt. The body was discovered hanging from a tree in one of the thickets in the area.
The incident was confirmed by Matungulu Assistant County Commissioner James Nyengenye.
Nyengenye said that the body of the middle-aged man was discovered at around 500 pm by members of the public who raised alarm.
He, however, noted that the reason behind the cop taking his life remains unknown since he didn't leave a suicide note.
"Kiplimo who is attached to the Tala Police Post committed suicide by hanging himself near Nice View Primary School. He left no suicide note and the police have not established the reason as to why he chose to kill himself," said Nyengenye during a phone interview.
The commissioner said officers from Tala picked the body and took it to Kangundo Level Four Hospital mortuary pending investigations.
"The body has been picked and was taken to Kangundo Mortuary. Police have begun investigations into the incident," he said.
