A Nairobi court has freed the famous witch doctor from Matungulu, Machakos County due to insufficient evidence.
Ann Mutheu was on Thursday set free by the court following her arrest at her Tala home a week ago.
Mutheu had been linked to a car theft syndicate in the country.
She together with another suspect Johnson Macharia had been arraigned in court over theft of vehicles.
This is after the court found no sufficient proof to charge the accused persons with car theft after police failed to provide enough evidence.
The two appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Elector Akoth Riany.
"The police have not found enough evidence to sustain a criminal case," prosecutor Ms. Adeline Rugoto told the court when she made an application to drop the case.
Rugoto also directed that Mutheu be refunded her Sh150,000 bail which she had paid.
Mutheu was arrested last week by flying squad police together with businessman Johnson Macharia.
Over 130 identification cards belonging to unknown people were recovered during the 15 hour raid.
Vehicle parts were also found in the compound.
Flying squad commissioner Musa Yego had told reporters that the suspect they had arrested led them to the witch doctor's house.
