Kisumu Town West MP Olago Aluoch may be forced to play it safe if he is to survive Kisumu's cutthroat political competition especially following the bitter fallout between ODM leader Raila Odinga and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula.
Aluoch, who has been in Parliament since 2007 has twice defied all odds to be elected MP on a Ford Kenya ticket; in 2013 and 2017, in an ODM dominated region and Raila's political base.
However, with the latest political development, the vocal lawmaker finds himself in an awkward political dilemma.
In the past, it can be said that Aluoch won the seat on a party outside ODM because Ford Kenya and ODM were on the same coalition; first in CORD during the 2013 election, then NASA in 2017.
With Wetangula and Raila now taking different political routes, will the eloquent lawyer survive? And if he is to survive, what should he do?
There is no doubt that Aluoch will be forced to rethink his political future away from Ford Kenya so as not to fallout with the voters who have trusted him since 2007.But again, if he decides to decamp from Ford Kenya to ODM, he will have to relinquish his MP seat and go for fresh election. Is he ready for that?
