Deputy President William Ruto fired shots at veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga over what he called Raila's underhand plot to sow discord in Jubilee.
Speaking at the coast over the weekend, said that he was in Jubilee to stay and that any attempt to destabilise the governing party would come to naught.
"You cannot follow me to Jubilee after banishing me from ODM thinking that you can remove me from Jubilee. It will not happen. I was in ODM and banished and taken to court. They are spreading propaganda all around that they will wreck Jubilee. That is a daydream. What is not going to happen is for you to export conmanship into our party. We know you," Ruto fired.
Ruto's salvos mark an escalation in the war of words between the two leaders that shows no sign of abating.
He said that Jubilee would remain intact and awake to ensure that the handshake is not used in an underhand manner.
The remarks are the strongest indication yet of the DP's suspicions on Odinga's handshake motives.
There are fears that the bad blood between Raila and Ruto will reverse progress made under the handshake which helped bring to an end a political impasse that gripped the country after the disputed presidential election.
