Last month, social media was awash with Winnie's suspected appointment to AU, a claim which insiders dismissed as cheap propaganda.

On Saturday, Ms Odinga accompanied her father to Addis Ababa where she assumed a seat behind her father, who was appointed High Representative for Infrastructural Development, a further indication that she's Personal Secretary.

"Attending the 11th African Union Extraordinary Summit focusing on reforms and restructuring of the continental body. Also in attendance are Presidents' @CyrilRamaphosa and @UKenyatta amongst others- Addis Ababa, Ethiopia," Raila wrote.https://twitter.com/RailaOdinga/status/1063706730960482304?s=19.

An insider who spoke in confidence authoritatively confirmed that the last born daughter of arguably Kenya's most decorated politician is working for his father.

Ms Odinga, he said, is responsible for planning his father's official itinerary in the high profile engagements across the continent.

"She is the personal secretary and responsible for taking important notes. She will henceforth travel with him wherever he goes for official engagements," he said.

In October, Ms Odinga also accompanied her dad to South Africa, Johannesburg during his first ever official engagement as special envoy for AU.

The Ethiopian trip is the second outing for Mr Odinga and he was preserved a special seat not far from where President Uhuru Kenyatta was seated.

Winnie, as part of Odinga's probable exit strategy from active politics, has also been engaging in high profile political engagements, an indication that Mr Odinga is keen to groom her for a political seat.

Her elder sister Rosemary Odinga, quit from active politics last year when she was diagnosed with brain tumour.
