Elizabeth Mong'iti was forced out of the village by villagers after she beat her husband Moses Mong'iti in public for unknown reasons.

"We can't continue allowing Elizabeth to live with her husband because she has been assaulting him for a long period of time. Let her go back to her parents' home in Keera village, Nyacheki," said area assistant chief Enoch Ooga.

The chief said he was informed about the woman's habit of beating her husband by a Nyumba Kumi official, Caleb Gesaka.

He said he immediately called for a public baraza to discuss the woman's behavior.

"At the baraza Elizabeth admitted that she has been beating her husband and begged to be forgiven in vain. Villagers were offended by her conduct," he stated.

He asked men to come out open when marriages do not work, adding that cases of violence against men are rampant in the region.
