They were reportedly found with pangas and rungus while being frisked on their way in, said Kilimani OCPD Peter Katam.

Hundreds of Cord supporters carrying tags with pictures of opposition chief Raila Odinga, whistled their way into Uhuru Park in Nairobi from as early as 8.00am.

This comes after the High Court allowed the opposition to hold the fete at the park but warned against the violation of people's rights and incitement to violence.

Cord leaders are expected to lead Kenyans in marking the 53rd celebration, parallel to one that President Uhuru Kenyatta will attend at Afraha stadium in Nakuru.

Katam said they were taken to a police station for questioning as security remains heightened at the location in the wake of violent protests by the Opposition for the IEBC to be disbanded.

Meanwhile, normal traffic flow in Nakuru County was interrupted this morning as the county hosted the 53rd Madaraka Day celebrations at Afraha stadium.
