Dundori centre residents woke up to shock Tuesday morning after carcasses of 11 donkeys were found in a nearby forest. Part of the carcasses were 44 donkey limbs, several heads and skins that were scattered all over.
The incident raised fears residents might be consuming donkey meat unknowingly.
A public officer, attached to the area who sought anonymity, condemned the incident warning residents to be careful and only eat inspected meat.
“I am not allowed to speak to the media, but I would urge the people not to buy suspected meat, or one that has not been inspected,” he said.
“Of recent we have had several cases of stolen donkey,” a resident, Maina Muthengi, said.
Nakuru county public health officer Samwel Kingori could not be reached for a comment.
