The Kenya Wildlife Service has already set up 11 watering points at Lake Nakuru National Park. Speaking to the press yesterday at Lake Nakuru National Park, Senior Warden Dickson Ritan said that the continued dry spell and drought has greatly affected the supply of fresh water to the animals at the park considering the fact that the lake has salty water.
"We have been forced to use water from the boreholes so as to quench the thirst of the wild animals. We have also gone to the extent of setting up 11 watering points in the park so as to ensure that all the animals gets water", Ritan said.
Ritan went ahead and said that it was very bad for any wild animal to die due to lack of water in the park."A number of animals especially buffaloes have been reported dead due to lack of water and this is very wrong. We are doing everthing possible to ensure that there will be no such cases that will be reported again", Ritan said,
Ritan added that the cases of Animal-Human conflict have reduced drastically due to the electric fence that surrounds the park."The electric fence has really helped in reducing the conflict that has been experienced in the past",Ritan said.
