Kisii County Police Commander Simon Kiragu has vowed to continue with the crackdown of unroadworthy vehicles operating in various roads in the county.

Speaking to Journalists in Kisii town on Thursday, Commander Kiragu said that they had seized 110 illegally operating vehicles since Monday.

He warned owners of such vehicles that they risked huge fines for ignorance of transport rules. The Commander disclosed that some of the vehicles confiscated lacked valid operating licences, speed governors and safety belts.

"We have seized 110 vehicles in Kisii County that have not fulfilled the requisites needed to operate in Kenyan roads. Some of the requirements are, valid licences, speed governors and safety belts," revealed Kiragu.

He warned, "Owners of vehicles that operate illegally risk huge fines and therefore, I advise them to abide by the transport rules."

He asked the public to help them with information of those vehicles that operate on roads illegally.

"To bring sanity in transport sector, we will continue with the crackdown to tame rogue operators. However, I ask the members of the public to report drivers and conductors who break transport rules so that we can arrest them," appealed Commander Kiragu.
