25 people sustained serious injuries after they were involved in a road accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway on Tuesday morning.
The passengers were travelling in a bus belonging to the Tahmeed bus company from Nairobi to Mombasa before the driver of the bus lost control of the bus and overturned at Taita Village (past Maungu area).
Confirming the incident, Voi traffic boss Michael Muriithi said; “The bus was overlapping another vehicle travelling in the same direction and in the process, the driver lost control. The bus rolled several times injuring 25 passengers.”
The Kenya Red Cross, Voi team rushed the victims to Moi County Referral Hospital - Voi for treatment.

18 were discharged, two referred to St. Joseph - Ikanga hospital, two others to Coast General Hospital while one is still recuperating at the facility.
The accident comes after the Inspector General of Police JosephBoinnet asked drivers to be vigilant on the roads and inspect the condition of their vehicles before hitting the road.
Boinnet expressed concern over road accidents, saying drivers should help to avert such incidents.
