Mr Atwoli will now serve another four years in the body that is mandated to steer regulations of industrial training and policy across the world.

In his speech, Atwoli vowed to ensure governments respect and adhere to industrial relations machinery available in different countries around the globe.

“I urge both employers and governments to respect and adhere to the enormous industrial relations machinery available in their respective countries and in case of disagreements,” Atwoli said in his acceptance speech.

Mr Atwoli is one of key players in Kenya's politics and has recently castigated deputy president William Ruto, often insisting that he's not fit to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Across the world, he's also a reputable trade unionist who rarely spares government that allegedly mistreat workers. In Kenya, he has used his position to bargain for better renumeration for workers both in public and private sectors.

"Congratulations my big brother and COTU(K) Secretary General Dr. Francis Atwoli for being Re-Elected as the President of the Global Industrial Relations Body in Geneva Switzerland. KAZI KWAKO," wrote Makadara MP George Aladwa following Atwoli's re-election.
