A Boda boda rider was on Sunday evening killed on a grisly road accident at Bogitaa, Riana Ward Kisii County along Suneka-Asumbi highway after his speeding motorbike collided head-on with another heavily loaded motorbike.
According to area chief Mr Edward Moenda, the deceased was on his high speed from Suneka heading to Asumbi when he collided with a motorbike belonging to engineers constructing the new highway which was carrying heavy loads.
"The deceased was coming from Suneka at high speed around 6 pm and collided with another motorbike belonging to engineers who are constructing the new road. The engineer's bike was carrying some heavy materials which they were transporting to be used in construction. The rider fell down and the heavily loaded motorbike run over him and killed him on the spot," said Moenda.
The new road has no slow pumps a move that might have contributed to the accident.
Drivers and pedestrians have been cautioned to be careful and avoid over speeding when using not only the road but other roads too especially this festive season when families are travelling for end year celebrations.
"I urge drivers especially Boda boda riders to be careful not to over speed. This is December and our roads are busy," Cautioned Chief.
The body of the deceased was taken to Nyangena Mortuary by the police.
