The body of a middle-aged body has been found dumped near Nairobi River by youths who are undertaking a cleanup exercise.
"Nairobi youths, conducting a cleaning of Nairobi River have found another body of a middle-aged boy, strangled and dumped near the river, this makes a total number of 14 bodies retrieved from Nairobi rivers since Gov. Sonko launched the cleanup exercise," reads a tweet by K24 TV.
Less than a week ago, bodies of kids purported to be twins were found wrapped in a polythene bag when ‘Ng’arisha Jiji Initiative’ youths hired by Nairobi County were doing the clean up in the same river.
“Today morning, as my team was preparing to start cleaning part of the Nairobi River in Korogocho, we found two bodies of kids wrapped in a polythene bag. We believe the two children must be twins,” said Fredrick Okinda, the chairperson of the Komb-Green Solutions in Korogocho.
Speaking on the incident, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko said it is suspected the bodies of the twins were dumped there after an abortion. He promised to deal with the facilities that perform abortion in the city.
"My government will continue closing down all hospitals doing abortion and throwing innocent babies to Nairobi River like my team is witnessing. We are also shutting down factories, apartments, institutions, which discharge effluent into Nairobi river,” Sonko said.
