On Monday, ODM party Central Committee met in Nairobi where it approved NEB request to be allowed to nominate one from among 8 candidates who had declared interest.

Further, the committee directed the board to submit the name of the winner to NEC before July 26th for approval.

And in Migori, Ayacko, also a former Rongo MP vanquished seven other opponents in the electoral college votes after garnering 44 votes out of possible 70.

The EC voters consist seven delegates who constitute each constituency's executive branch and it totals to 56 from the regions.

On top, 14 other members are drawn at the county level thus making the number 70 in Migori.

With only 49 qualifying to vote on Monday, Ayacko managed 44 while former Nyatike MP Omondi Anyanga scooped only 2. Businessman Eddie Okechi got one with the rest getting nil.

The results will be handed over to National Executive Council for ratification before July 26th according to press release by party SG Edwin Sifuna.

The predominance of ODM party in Migori makes Ayacko to be technically the winner even before the October 8th polls.

During the burial of Senator Ben Okello, ODM leader Raila Odinga reconciled Ayacko and Governor Okoth Obado.

The two contested for gubernatorial seat in August and Obado was declared winner after narrowly beating Ayacko.

The truce brokered by Raila would foster normalcy in the county given the prolonged spell of politicking.

It's not immediately clear whether front runners Dalmas Otieno and Omondi Anyanga will concede defeat.
