A middle-aged woman has lost her life as several others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident.
The accident happened at Sinai area along Wote-Makindu road in Makueni County on Thursday.
The accident was confirmed by Kathonzweni sub-county police commander Peter Ndiu who told Hivisasa on phone that the accident involved two 41-seater buses from Penny and Nyota companies which were heading to Wote town from Makindu.
He said that one of the buses, (Nyota) tried to overtake the other and ended up hitting it on the side.
"The passanger seating next to the driver at the front died on the spot because the vehicle was hit at the door, she was sitting at the left end," said Ndiu.
He said the other bus (Penny) had stopped to pick a passenger while the other one tried to overtake and ended up causing the accident.
He said that those who sustained injuries were on the bus that caused the accident (Nyota).
He added that police officers have rushed to the scene and detailed information about the accident will be given.
The body of the woman who lost her life was taken to Makueni Referral Hospital mortuary.
