A post by Miss Tourism Kenya Facebook page elicited sharp criticism from Nyamira residents with some accusing officials of carrying out the event in secrecy.

But a post by one Ms. Maureen Venessa, an official in Ms. Tourism Kenya, claimed that they have announced auditions for 24 counties that had not hosted the event thus the origin of the new winners.

"We announced auditions for counties that had not hosted the event and went ahead to conduct it. Those who excelled were listed as winners," she said.

But whether Ms. Ogega's participation was authenticated by the county government, remains the elephant in the room.

On Monday morning, minister incharge of Trade and Tourism Peter Muga denied knowledge of such an event.

"I don't know about it. I have also seen it on social media. We shall ask Chief Officer and Director to explain," he said.

Residents suspect that besides organisers denying them Chance to showcase their talent, millions may have been swindled during the event.
