Serious transformation measures have been put in place as part of legacy plans ahead of 2022 exit, Governor John Nyagarama has said.
In a press statement issued by Communication Director Kefa Miller on Tuesday, Nyagarama said payroll purge exercise is ongoing well, adding that he will ensure illegally recruited workers are removed to manage wage bill.
"Payroll audit is ongoing well. We must do this as a method of managing our ballooning wage bill. I started it and I won't stop. We might have made some errors but they will be rectified," he said.
At least 1,000 workers missed their salaries in April, a move that has caused anxiety within the county government. Those affected have been asked to wage formal complaints.
In April, Governor Nyagarama appointed a committee under Public Service Management minister Bernard Osumo and Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo to handle illegal employment issues.
Nyagarama on Tuesday warned ministers against staying in their offices, adding that time has come for them to move around the county and supervise government projects.
"All ministers will be required to move across the county for projects inspection. We want to see things moving. They must work with MCAs and compile a report for me," he added.
The county boss asked residents to give his administration time to deliver, adding that no matter the challenges he's facing, 'he is determined to make Nyamira great'.
