Former Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim shocked Kenyans March this year when he revealed during a television interview what Raila had told them during a closed-door, parliamentary group meeting at the Wiper Party headquarters.
According to Mr Maalim, Raila said that he had been offered billions of shillings by the governing Jubilee Party to abandon the NASA cause.
The amount started at five billion shillings and escalated to twenty-five billion shillings, something that Maalim found disconcerting and fishy.
"Raila addressed us and he said that he had been offered five billion shillings to drop the quest, then he was offered ten billion, then he was offered fifteen billion, and then twenty billion all the way to twenty-five billion," Farah said in the morning interview.
The former lawmaker contended that for the money to have been increased by five billion there must have been a counter-demand.
In the interview, he bemoaned the transactional nature of Kenyan politics and warned that Kenyans were being taken for a ride by the political class.
