Residents of Bonyaoro village in Suneka Division, Kisii County were on Friday treated to drama after a man clashed with his neighbour over a piece of land.
It is alleged that Abel Ndege leased a piece of land to his neighbour Collins Moindi three years ago, to raise funds to pay school fees for his son who completed form four last year.
"Moindi gave Ndege Sh15,000 after he allowed him to grow crops on the piece of land for three years. However, Ndege now wants his neighbour to vacate the land but Moindi is claiming that he bought the land permanently. This angered Ndege who stormed Moindi's home and descended on him with kicks and blows," said Pius Monari, a villager.
Mr Monari said it took the intervention of Nyumba Kumi officials to stop the two from fighting.
Area Nyumba Kumi chairman Julius Gichana who confirmed the incident said that Moindi's lease expired in January.
"Moindi wants to forcibly grab Ndege's land. We won't accept because the lease agreement was that he was to cultivate the land for only three years. He must vacate the land so that Ndege can continue cultivating it," said Gichana.
