Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria surprised mourners during a burial service in his constituency on Saturday days after he caused a political storm in the country.
The controversial MP was attending the burial of Ruth Wangui, who was a church leader at PCEA Gatundu, in Ndenderu ward.
When leaders were called to address residents, Kuria, despite being the area MP, refused to speak and instead just waved to the crowd.
The MP’s move left mourners stunned with the MC being forced to invite other leaders to speak.
Kuria remained seated and unmoved by the murmurs of the residents.
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, who also attended the function, urged Kuria to work together with other leaders and avoid making utterances that can divide residents.
“Let us tread carefully and avoid washing our dirty linen in public or talking about issues that may end up dividing our people and the country at large,” Kabogo said.
On his part, Governor Ferdinand Waititu said all leaders must quit politicking and instead work for the people.
“Let us forget politics because it ended. We should all work for you people,” Waititu said.
There was also drama when area MCA Alex Kabuu attempted to outline the projects that Waititu's administration had initiated since his election in 2017.
Angry residents heckled the MCA forcing him to cut short his speech.
Kuria caused a political storm on New Year's Eve after he said that President Uhuru Kenyatta had neglected the Mt Kenya region despite residents voting for him overwhelmingly in the 2017 polls.
