Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has urged political leaders from Mt Kenya to unite in preparation for 2022 general elections.
Kuria said if the region will go to the next election divided, it will blow up its chances of being in the government and end in opposition.
“Our leaders should be thinking on how the region can benefit from the next government in terms of development," he said during a church service in Embu County.
The vocal MP, who has declared interest in the presidency, pointed an accusing finger at 'Kieleweke' and 'Tanga Tanga' formations for allegedly causing disunity in the region.
“Instead of uniting to bargain for political power in 2022, our MPs are divided," Kuria said when he worshipped at Kageeri Catholic Church.
'Tanga Tanga' refers to the group which is backing Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid.
On the other side, 'Kieleweke' is the team supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta to build his legacy and has been very hostile to Ruto's 'early campaigns'.
Kuria urged the two groups to bury the hatchet and plan for the future of Mt Kenya region beyond Uhuru's retirement.
"To me, it doesn't matter who will become the next president. What matters to me is representation of the region in the country’s top leadership," the Gatundu legislator stated.
