In an interview on Tonight on Citizen TV Thursday evening, the Senator claimed that one such institution is the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

He alleged that the directorate has been taken over by elements out to scuttle Ruto's 2022 presidential bid and is tirelessly working towards realizing the same.

According to the lawmaker, that DCI has been using the ongoing water dam saga probe to portray the DP in bad light with an aim of dimming his popularity ahead of the polls.

"I don't agree with how the DCI has been operating.

"When the body operates by announcing each and every of its steps, that becomes malicious and the victim here is Ruto because the dams are located in his backyard," he said.

"I find it malicious and I think the DCI is being used as one of the weapons to fight the DP," he added.

The dams in question are Kimwarer and Arror dams, both of which are in Elgeyo Marakwet county, one of Ruto's allied counties.

Ruto on Thursday came out to set the records straight, claiming that only Ksh7 billion had been paid to the contractor.

On the other hand, the DCI has revealed that about Ksh21 billion was paid to Italian firm CMC Di Ravenna, which has since been declared bankrupt and unable to deliver the projects.

However, Murkomen did not mention the alleged people using the George Kinoti-led investigative institution to finish the DP.
