She said Kalonzo's remark is being misinterpreted by politicians.

According to the Kitui county boss, Kalonzo has a right to speak his mind hence should not be condemned.

“I don’t see anything wrong with what Kalonzo said, people should stop criticizing him,” Ngilu said.

Ngilu spoke at a public forum on Building Bridges in Kitui County on Wednesday.

She said Kalonzo has a right to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta just like the opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Ngilu said the Wiper leader's chances of winning the presidency in 2022 will increase if he becomes closer to Uhuru.

“Kalonzo stands to gain if he works with the President than if he keeps to himself,” Ngilu said.

The Kitui governor asked Kamba politicians to unite and support Kalonzo’s bid instead of complaining.

She said Kalonzo’s new peace envoy job will catapult him to the presidency in 2022.

A section of Kamba politicians led by former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has criticized Kalonzo’s "mtu wa mkono" remark.

The Kamba politicians now want Kalonzo to come clear and tell his supporters what he meant.

The leaders also want Kalonzo to give direction to his supporters.

During the burial of his father on Friday last week, Kalonzo said he is ready to be President Uhuru’s "mtu wa mkono" [errand boy].

The Wiper leader is among top politicians eyeing to succeed President Kenyatta in 2022.
