A 78-year-old man shocked villagers after he was cornered red-handed having sex with a minor in Nyamira County.
The man only identified as Abraham was busted with the girl at Mogumo village in Mogusii location on Friday.
Confirming the heinous incident, area assistant chief Benjamin Monari said the suspect lured the 12-year-old minor into his house with sweets.
"Abraham has never re-married after the death of his wife. He took advantage of the minor to engage in sex with her," Monari said.
Monari said the minor's mother raised alarm after finding the suspect in the act.
"The victim's mother alerted neighbors who stormed the house where the man was having sex with the minor, beat him up before apprehending him," he added.
The administrator confirmed that the suspect was surrendered to Matutu police station.
"He is in custody waiting to be taken to court on Monday. Abraham will be charged with defilement to serve as an example to men who have been having sex with minors in the dark," Monari said.
Monari warned men against luring minors into sex.
He said the law will not spare men who turn themselves into sexual predators.
