Somali's are mostly found in Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, and Wajir.

The Somali just like other tribes and communities have a rich culture and traditions.

The Somalis value religion and tradition but also value other things like dressing, marriage, dowry and even the food they consume.

Here is a look at the foods or delicacies loved by Somali people and which you should also try.

1. Sabaayad

It is a flatbread popular known as ‘kimis’. 

It is prepared either in round or square shapes.

It’s often taken with tea or coffee.

2. Sambusa 

It is a friend snack eaten mostly on Ramadan and other traditional ceremonies.

They are made with beef and filled with spices.

The sambusa can be taken with tea or coffee.

3. ‘Kac kac’

It is fried bread chunks made and eaten mostly during ceremonies like Eid and Ramadan. 

They can be taken with tea or soft drinks.

4. Surbiyaan Hilib Adhi

It rice that is prepared with lamb meat. 

It is mostly prepared during Eid celebrations.

5. Maraq Digaag- delicious soup

It is chicken soup flavored with vegetable and spices.

6. Iskudheh Karis

It is an aromatic combination of rice and meat. 

It is prepared with pepper, coriander and other flavors making it tasty.

7. Suugo suqaar

It is pasta cooked with beef and ‘xawash’ (Somali spices).

8.. Cambuulo Iyo Maraq

It is rice and 'adzuki' beans cooked in combination. 

It is a common lunchtime meal among Somalis.
