Sonko who has been engaging in a war of words with a section of the MCAs over his 'frequent absence' in office.

Last week in a live interview with Citizen TV, Sonko declined to comment on the decision by the MCAs to impeach Elachi saying he will not talk about the former Nominated Senator's troubles as he may be the next leader to be thrown out of office.

The MCAs critical of Sonko's leadership accuse the county chief of mismanaging the county affairs while labeling them as corrupt.

They also accuse Sonko of shifting his office operations to his Mua home instead of City Hall.

However, what are the chances that the MCAs may succeed impeaching Sonko?

Sonko has only one 'bullet' against the MCAs. That is, he can capitalize on his close relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to reign on the ward representatives to stop the move and allow him continue working for the betterment of the lives of Nairobi residents.

Jubilee and ODM which are led by Uhuru and Raila respectively control majority seats in the County Assembly and any negotiation with the MCAs to stop the planned impeachment instituted by the Assembly's Minority Leader Peter Imwatok (Makongeni Ward, ODM) will succeed in saving Sonko his job.

The game remains in Sonko's court to 'sweet talk' Uhuru and Raila to reign on their lieutenants to abandon the impeachment move altogether.
