Former Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech has been given a new job by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
Oliech will now head the sports development department in Nairobi County, as the governor aims to improve sports within the county.
Dennis ‘the menace’ Oliech is one of the best players to ever play for Harambee Stars, and rose to stardom as a 19-year-old while in high school.
He then went on to become a dependable striker for the Stars and won many Kenyans’ hearts in his playing days.
Alongside Oliech, former captain Musa Otieno has also been nominated, and the two will work towards sports development.
The appointments come after Sonko assented to the Nairobi City County Sports Management (Amendment) Bill 2018, giving way for the formation of Nairobi County Sports Committee that will oversee sports development in Nairobi City.
The team will be tasked with among other things, promote and develop sports activities in Nairobi County.
“I have nominated former Harambee Stars players Musa Otieno and Dennis Oliech to be members of the committee. The formation of the committee will add value to my administration’s plans for the youth in the county,” said Sonko when he made the appointments last week.
