Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has cautioned people eyeing the Kakamega gubernatorial seat in the 2022 polls not to attempt to woo him to their side.
Speaking on Monday, Echesa said he is a bigger political figure, as a former Cabinet Minister, now playing in the national league.
Speaking on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha show, Echesa said that the least he can do now is offer advice to the political hopefuls.
"Mimi nimepita kuwa supporter wa mtu sasa. Mimi nimekuwa waziri. Ninachoweza kufanya ni kupeana mawaidha (I am past the level of supporting people, being a former minister. What I can do is give advise)," he said.
He added that he will as well keep off former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale's attempt to succeed Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
This is despite Khalwale's recent crossover to the ruling Jubilee Party from opposition's Ford Kenya party and has openly announced his ambitions after losing in the 2017 polls.
Echesa said that he would rather keep off the issue completely.
"Its upon the people to decide. Kesho nikisema ntamsupport Khalwale na wakatae itakuaje? (what would happen if I declared support for him tomorrow and the people end up rejecting him?)," he posed.
