The relationship between opposition leader Raila Odinga and self-proclaimed general Miguna Miguna can be described as an on-and-off affair.

Miguna once worked as the advisor of Raila Odinga when he (Odinga) was the prime minister.

But the two fell out after Raila Odinga relieved Miguna Miguna of his duties on August 4, 2011.

Miguna Miguna, in a retaliatory attack, published a book exposing the underbelly of the former PM.

In the book, Miguna made what many felt was a personal attack on the former PM. Apart from publishing a book, Miguna Miguna also expressed his displeasure in working with Odinga.

He appeared severally on television stations where he stated that he will not work with Raila again.

In an about-turn move, Miguna Miguna, in the run-up to the general elections of 2017, declared his support for Raila Odinga.

He was in the forefront campaigning for Odinga presidency. After the repeat elections, which opposition party National Super Alliance (NASA) boycotted, Miguna Miguna joined hands with other opposition politicians to form the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Miguna actively took part in the swearing-in of Raila Odinga as the "People's president" in a ceremony held at Uhuru Park.

After the controversial event, Raila joined hands with Uhuru Kenyatta and this did not please Miguna.

He saw it as an act of betrayal and until to date, he has been attacking Raila on Twitter. After his deportation, he settled in Canada and he has not toned down attacking Odinga.

The latest attack being the release of yet another book titled, 'Treason: The case against tyrants and renegades.'

Miguna Miguna is planning to come back to Kenya and the big question is whether he will work with Raila again.

In my opinion, Miguna Miguna has no choice but to work with Odinga. First, he cannot join Uhuru's Jubilee party. Of all the people, the fierce lawyer knows better the saying; better the devil you know than the angel you do not know.

Another reason why Miguna Miguna will have to work hand in hand with Raila Odinga again is the simple fact that Raila is expanding his muscles, politically speaking.

Instead of retiring, the former PM is clearly re-strategizing to give another stab at the presidency.

Raila is still the enigma, at least on the opposition side, and parting ways with him is a sure way of staying in the cold.
