Renowned lawyer Professor Makau Mutua has hinted on contesting for the Presidency in 2022 General Elections.
Mutua will join Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, among others if he vies for the presidential seat in the next polls.
The US based professor says he has what it takes to ascend to power.
“I may have to think seriously on running for the Presidency in 2022 if a certain person doesn’t do so. Stay turned a Garden of Eden,” Professor Mutua tweeted on Saturday.
Mutua’s possible entry into the 2022 presidential race could complicate both Kalonzo and Governor Mutua’s presidential bids on grounds that they are all from the Ukambani region.
Political analyst Peter Ngure, however, says it will not be easy for the lawyer to get to State House as he thinks.
The analyst observes that politics is a game of numbers and hard tactics, something that the professor may not have.
According to Ngure, here are the reasons why Professor Mutua’s bid will flop if he decides to vie for the Presidency:
1. Lacks numbers
The analyst observes that the Law professor does not have the numbers to contest for the Presidency.
2. Political experience
Ngure argues that Professor Mutua does not have any political experience to contest for the Presidency in 2022.
3. Political networks
According to the analyst, politics is a game of networks. He notes that Professor Mutua does not have any networks.
Ngure argues that the US based professor can make an impact if he decides to deputize one of the senior politicians who have declared their interests in the 2022 presidential contest.
The analyst states that the lawyer's legal experience and exposure to international issues can be a boost and plus to anyone who agrees to work with him in 2022.
