Chandarana Foodplus branches are still operating despite a closure order by Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.
On Sunday evening, Sonko issued an order canceling the licenses of the supermarket over alleged racism.
According to Nairobi News, Ngara and Muthaiga branches are still operating normally without any disruptions.
Sonko’s order resulted from complaints about racism in the retail chain after a leaked email. The email entailed a marketing plan that was targetting 'white people'.
However, Sonko's order has been faulted by legal experts who claim that he has no mandate to cancel such license.
Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo and Nairobi County Speaker Beatrice Elachi are among leaders who have faulted Sonko.
According to Chandarana, the person who wrote the email is not conversant with English hence 'horrendous choice of words.
