Chief Justice David Maraga was on Sunday conferred with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Andrews University in Michigan.
He was also given the privilege to address graduates at the institution during his tour in the US.
The CJ took to his social media account to reveal about the honour Maraga, who made history after nullifying the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto in 2017, revealed that he was a happy man following the honour.
He shared his photos and captioned them: “I was deeply honoured to be awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Andrews University in Michigan, USA last Sunday. I also had the honour of giving the commencement address during the graduation ceremony,” he said.
Born on January 12, 1951, in Bonyamatuta, Nyamira County, Maraga has achieved a number of things besides heading the Apex court in the land.
The Maranda High School old boy has become a role model for the youth who want to pursue their career in law.
Some time back, Maraga confessed how drugs and substance abuse almost ruined his life.
He urged youths not to engage in drugs at the expense of their future. He has been committed to supporting President Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in government, in achieving his goals before he quits.
