The county government of Nakuru has heightened activities that will help avert the havoc that comes along with the onset of rains.
Addressing media in Nakuru, the Director Environment Kiogora Muriithi while noting that storm water has been a menace in Nakuru’s CBD, stated that the county has heightened activities that will help address the menace as witnessed before.
According to Kiogora, the activities include the process of ensuring that the drainage system is in proper condition to enable smooth flow of the rain water.“Storm water drains within our CBD and residential areas and that is why as a county we have heightened activities to ensure that the drainage system is in proper condition before the onset of the rains” said Kiogora.
His sentiments come barely days after a section of Nakuru residents raised concerns on various social media platforms concerning the preparedness of Nakuru County towards the onset of rains.
This even as the Kenya Meteorological Department foresees few areas in the Lake Victoria Basin, highlands west of the Rift Valley and Central Rift Valley are likely to experience rainfall that will occasionally spread to the central highlands including Nairobi.
