Deputy President William Ruto is not fit to be in his current position, an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party MP has said.
Rarienda legislator Otiende Amollo said Ruto does not mean well for Kenya for allegedly opposing the famous March 9 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga which he said had brought sanity and peace in the country.
In an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Amollo said Ruto should resign or be relieved of his duties so the country can have alternative leadership which ensures peace prevails.
"If the DP appears to disagree so fundamentally with this handshake and unity, isn't time he resigned or isn't it time we reorganised this country?" he said.
Amollo added that those opposed to the newfound unity between Raila and President Kenyatta are political opportunists.
The first-time MP further condemned Ruto for embarking on early 2022 campaigns.
"There are colleagues of mine who walk with the DP and when you ask them, they say it is because they want development. You don't need the DP to come to your constituency to get development. That is nonsense," the vocal legislator said.
