There was drama today in Malkamari location of Banisa sub-county when residents stormed an AP camp to demand justice for a 70-year-old woman who was allegedly beaten up by an Administrative Police (AP) officer.
The woman identified as Ambia Mumin on Tuesday fell victim of police brutality on innocent and unarmed civilians.
In today's incident that happened in Malkamari location of Banisa sub-county, a police officer who has since been identified as Peter Githinji Ngotho descended on Mumin who had visited the local AP camp to check on his son Omar who had been arrested in a crackdown on illegal logging.
It is then that Githinji descended on Mumin, exposing her to bodily injuries under unclear circumstances.
Residents quickly flocked the scene to demand justice for the old woman but could not get enough assistance from Githinji's seniors.
They, however, rushed Ambia to the Malkamari dispensary where she was attended to.
Residents and local leaders are now calling for swift action against the errant police officer and threatened to take action into their own hands if the issue is not addressed.
The Tuesday incident happened even as security officers engaged in an operation in Garissa and Mandera counties hit the headlines in the past week over allegations of brutality and human rights violation.
