Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has left residents tongues wagging after he pleaded with DP William Ruto on Wednesday to leave DCI George Kinoti alone.
Maangi, speaking after a meeting with representatives from the United States Congress who are inspecting the progress being made by World Vision an NGO that promotes youth empowerment and deals with poverty eradication, urged DP Ruto to give Kinoti free time to probe graft.
"I want to appeal to my brother and longtime friend DP Ruto to leave alone Kinoti to do his job probing graft because that is part of his work," he said.
The ODM allied deputy governor reiterated that corruption should be fought by all relevant state agencies and no one should interfere with the work of independent bodies probing graft.
"Ruto is a national leader who needs to focus on the national matter. He should, therefore, direct politicians close to him not to interfere with DCI Kinoti's work in the ongoing graft war," Maandi noted.
Maangi who is expected to vie for Kisii Governor's seat is a close ally to DP Ruto.
