Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has exuded confidence that he will win the Governor seat in the much anticipated 2022 general election.
Khalwale says that he is strong enough to take over the county’s leadership from Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya who is serving his final term in office.
Speaking on Milele FM Drive Show on Thursday evening, Khalwale vowed to provide world-class services to Kakamega residents if elected governor in 2022.
“I have a big vision for Kakamega people in 2022 and pray that they will give me a chance to be their governor when the time comes,” the former vocal Senator nicknamed ‘Bullfighter’ said.
Khalwale dismissed claims that he is backing Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 bid in order to get help for the governor seat.
The former senator said that he does not need anybody’s help to win the Kakamega gubernatorial seat.
He pledged to continue the development projects governor Oparanya would have not completed by the time his term ends in 2022.
Governor Oparanya is yet to endorse his 2022 successor but the battle for the seat has attracted vocal politicians.
Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, Women Representative Elsie Muhanda and Lugari MP Ayub Savula are among politicians likely to give Khalwale a run for his money in the gubernatorial election.
